Joe Horneck is a senior banking professional, who has served as a Vice President of an international pension manager and has managed staff on three different continents. He currently works in Toronto as Vice President of Operations for a major Japanese bank.
Joe volunteers in his community as the Treasurer for Armagh House, a second stage home for women and their children fleeing domestic violence. Joe is a leading transit advocate as Co-Chair of the Western GTA Summit Move Taskforce, a citizens' advisory group that researches and promotes ways to reduce gridlock and improve transit options in Peel Region. The taskforce published an extensive in-depth report on unlocking gridlock in 2014 that received praise and support from transit leaders.
As a transit advocate, Joe has appeared numerous times in national and local media, as well as a regular commentator on Rogers TV for many public policy issues.
Joe has a Masters Degree in International Political Economy from the University of Warwick in the United Kingdom, a Double Honours BA in History and Political Science from Wilfrid Laurier University, and numerous financial accreditations.
Joe is married to Laura Naismith, an education scientist, and they have chosen Mississauga Ward 6 as the ideal place to make their family home and raise their two children. Joe and his family are avid users of Mississauga's Parks and Recreation programs and facilities, and they are passionate about maintaining the excellent quality of life in Mississauga.
